We operate the only inpatient child psychiatry program in Lake County. Services are provided under the care and direction of board-certified child/adolescent psychiatrists. Treatment components include:
- Psychiatric evaluation
- Group and Individual psychotherapy
- Family psychotherapy
- On-unit school program with full-time teacher
- Full inpatient treatment milieu
- Full aftercare planning
- Expressions therapy

- Substance use assessment
- On-Unit school program with full-time teacher

Skills Training for Adolescents • 847.625.6252
Teaching a young person how to deal with anger, sadness or disappointment, how to control behavior or how to get along better with a brother or sister requires a variety of carefully chosen activities and experiences. Skills Training for Adolescents is a unique program offered by Vista Health System to teach teens (ages 12-17) skills to cope with:
- Strong emotions
- Life stresses
- Low self-esteem
- Conflicts with others
- Peer problems
- Problems at home or in school
It is an educational and therapeutic program that is short term and goal specific. Skills Training for Adolescents was developed and is supervised by a licensed child psychologist. The program is run by masters level clinicians and experienced mental health workers.

We offer parent training classes utilizing one of the most popular and effective training modules available. Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (S.T.E.P.). This time-limited parent training group is designed to help parents acquire key skills such as improved communication, consistent approached to discipline and effective collaboration between parents in child rearing. Classes are generally offered in the spring.
