The laboratories of Vista Health System are accredited by the Joint Commission and offer full service for all product lines. Testing is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week in the specialty areas of chemistry, blood bank, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis and microbiology.
Test turnaround times include:
STAT – One hour for tests on STAT list, which are designated as STAT by the ordering physician.
Routine – Completed within four hours of specimen receipt and includes chemistry, blood bank, hematology, coagulation and urinalysis testing performed in house.
Next-day turnaround time service is available for physician office patients and clinics.
Pathology services including anatomic pathology, histology and cytology are preformed at the Vista Medical Center East Laboratory. All staining and testing is performed under the guidance of board certified and experienced pathologists. Immunohistochemical and special stains are done in house to make a timely and definitive diagnosis. The pathologists are readily available to provide consultations with the clinician.
Inpatient and outpatient services are available at the Vista Medical Center East Laboratory 24 hours a day/7 days a week. The Vista Medical Center West Laboratory services the Emergency Department and inpatients at that location with 24/7 coverage. The Vista Ambulatory Center Laboratory in Lindenhurst offers on-site outpatient laboratory testing Monday-Friday during the regular business hours. An outpatient drawing center for laboratory tests is located at the Vista Imaging Center in Gurnee.
Courier service is available to many physician offices. Specimens collected at these locations are transported to the Vista Medical Center East Laboratory for testing.
