Outpatient Wound Services

5 million Americans develop chronic, non-healing wounds each year. If you, or someone you care about, are one of them, the Vista Health Wound Care Team may help. Our Wound Care Services combine numerous treatment methods with education and support to promote wound healing and enhance your quality of life. The Wound Care Team uses a coordinated approach and works with your physician and other healthcare providers to develop an individualized treatment plan for healing. Your physician is kept informed of your progress at regular intervals.

  • Patient and family education on disease processes, treatments and services
  • An interdisciplinary approach to wound care

Who Should Come to Wound Care?

Patients with many different types of wounds use our services. We treat both simple and complex wounds, some of the wounds we treat include:

  • diabetic wounds
  • wounds caused by trauma
  • wounds caused by cancer therapies
  • leg ulcers
  • venous and arterial wounds
  • pressure ulcers (bedsores)
  • burns
  • infected wounds

We also provide ostomy care, whether new or established.

Patients come to us from all over Lake County and southern Wisconsin . Your doctor does not need to be on staff at Vista Health System for you to be treated by Wound Care Services.

To Make an Appointment

For an appointment, call 847.360.4020.

You will need a doctor's order, however, your doctor does not need to be on staff at Vista Health for you to utilize our Wound Clinic.

Orders can be faxed to 847.360.4252 prior to your appointment or you can bring the written order with you to your appointment. If you have an HMO, you will also need a referral from your primary care doctor.

Does Insurance Cover Wound Care?

Most insurance plans, including Medicare and Blue Cross, cover wound care. To be certain, you can check with your insurance provider. Patients with an HMO must have a referral from their primary care physician. Patients being treated for work-related injury must have a pre-approval from their employer's Workers' Compensation Insurance Company.

Outpatient Wound Care Service Hours

Hours vary Monday through Friday, patients are seen by appointment only.
