Vista to break ground later this year
Waukegan,
Ill., 1/15/08--Today the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board unanimously approved Vista Health System’s plans for a new medical office building. Vista plans to break ground on the 60,000 square-foot Vista Lindenhurst Medical Office Building later this year.
“This is tremendous news for Vista as we move forward with our plans to bring a new hospital to Lake County,” said Barbara J. Martin, President and CEO of Vista Health System. “The Planning Board’s decision shows that its members understand that there is a great need for improved access to health care services in northwestern Lake County.” Vista has also submitted a certificate of need (CON) application to the Planning Board for a new 140-bed hospital in Lindenhurst.
The $15 million medical office building will be built in front of the Vista Surgery Center, which is near the corner of Grand Avenue and Deep Lake Road in Lindenhurst. Vista is working in collaboration with the developer, Deep Lake Development Partners, LLC, to construct the building. Once Vista breaks ground, it expects that the medical office building will be completed in 18 months.
“We thank our community, its leaders and our staff for their support,” Martin said. “We ask for their continued support as we work with the Planning Board to obtain approval on our plans for Vista Medical Center Lindenhurst. We are committed to doing what’s right for Lake County by building the first new hospital in the county in almost 30 years.”
The Planning Board deferred making a decision on the new hospital CON until April 2008, when new rules for bed need will be in place.
