Ill., 4/28/08--Access to emergency healthcare has become a concern for many families living in Lake County, Illinois. Today, Vista Medical Center West, formerly known as Saint Therese Medical Center, has re-opened a full service, Emergency Department.
Barbara J. Martin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Vista Health System said, “I am very pleased to announce the return of emergency medicine to Vista Medical Center West. The people of Lake County need better access to emergency medicine. Re-opening the full service Emergency Department at Vista Medical Center West brings this important service closer to many of our communities and will provide more access to emergency room beds for our growing population.”
With the return of ambulances, the Emergency Department at Vista Medical Center West will provide full service emergency medical care, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This facility will be staffed by emergency trained physicians, nurses and staff, under the guidance of Vista’s Emergency Department Medical Director, Dr. Kenji Oyasu. The Emergency Department will be backed by a wide range of on-site medical facilities. These include laboratory, radiology and psychiatric services to assist in treating a wide range of medical conditions.
This new facility will not change the Emergency Department services available at Vista Medical Center East. The Vista East Emergency Department will continue to provide advanced emergency healthcare and operate as a Level II Trauma Center.
