A BABY? VISTA HEALTH OFFERS CLASSES FOR EXPECTANT
PARENTS Waukegan ,
Ill. , 9/28/04- Expectant
moms and dads can learn all about the "big
day" at Vista Health's childbirth classes.
Classes are available year round and
are offered at Victory Memorial Hospital
( Waukegan ) and the Vista Surgery and
Treatment Center ( Lindenhurst ). A schedule
of dates, times and fees for classes
is available by calling Vista's New Family
Center at 847-360-4297, extension 5218.
Parents-to-be learn about changes in the
mother's body, how the baby grows and what
happens during delivery. There's a class
for people who will experience a Cesarean
section birth, as well as classes on breastfeeding,
newborn care and one specially designed
to help big brothers and sisters prepare
for the new arrival. Classes include:
Prepared Childbirth - A
four week series of classes during which
expectant mothers and their support persons
are instructed n the labor and delivery
experience as well as breathing and relaxation
techniques. It is recommended that this
class be taken early in the pregnancy,
during the first trimester if possible.
Prepared Childbirth Refresher - A
two session class designed for parents
who have attended classes in the past.
Prepared Childbirth Single Session - Designed
for people with busy schedules, this one
session class meets from 8:30 a.m. - 5
p.m. on a Saturday.
Prepared Childbirth Spanish Language - Taught
in Spanish, this single session class can
be arranged by calling Vista Health at
847-360-4297, extension 5316.
Breastfeeding Basics - This
class provides information to expectant
mothers about the methods and techniques
available for feeding newborns.
Baby Care Basics - Expectant
parents are instructed in caring for a
new baby, including bathing, behavior,
feeding and safety.
Sibling Class - Designed
for children ages 3 - 10, who are about
to become older siblings. This class helps
them understand how special it is to become
an older brother or sister.
