Martin Named Permanent Chief Executive Officer of Vista Health

Waukegan , June 6 , 2005 – On June 3, the Victory Health Services Board of Directors voted unanimously to appoint Barbara J. Martin as president and chief executive officer of Vista Health and its parent organization, Victory Health Services. Martin has served as Vista 's interim CEO since May 1. In addition, she had been Vista 's chief operating officer since June 1, 2004, during which time she was responsible for the daily operations of all departments and facilities, planning for strategic growth and development of strong physician relationships.

Cliff van Dyke, chairman of the Victory Health Services Board of Directors, said, “Barbara has a proven track record of leadership at the hospital system level and of proactively bringing about positive change. She has demonstrated at Vista Health that she can move the organization forward by developing collaborative relationships with medical staff, among hospital departments, and with political and community leaders.”

“I am pleased to assume this position on a permanent basis and to have the opportunity to continue working with the outstanding physicians and staff at Vista Health,” said Martin. “ Vista has a caring, qualified staff with whom I'm proud to be associated.”

In addition, Martin stated she looks forward to working more closely with government, civic and corporate leaders as Vista Health becomes a more active member of the diverse lakeshore communities.

Martin brings to Vista 28 years of professional experience in the health care industry, with the last 26 years in hospital administration. Prior to joining Vista , she served as interim Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President for Patient Service Operations for Temple University Hospitals. In her previous role she was System Vice President of Clinical Operations for Provena Health, a Catholic health care system that includes seven hospitals, twelve senior service facilities and over forty ambulatory centers and physician clinics. Prior to that, she served as Vice President of Operations for Provena's flagship hospital, St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet , Illinois . In that role, Martin was responsible for the areas of hospital operations for that facility.

Martin is a member of the American College of Health Care Executives and was awarded their Senior Administrator of the Year Award. In addition, she is Adjunct Faculty of the University of St. Francis ' masters in health care administration program. Martin holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree as well as a Masters Degree in Business Administration. She is married and has two grown children.
