VICTORY HOSPITAL EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE SAME LEVEL OF TRAUMA SERVICE PREVIOUOSLY AVAILABLE AT SAINT THERESE

Waukegan , ILL. , 6/15/05— As of today, Vista Health's Victory Memorial Hospital will operate a comprehensive Level II Trauma Center for people who require immediate attention for life's emergencies—ranging from serious, life-threatening injuries to high fevers. Patients can expect the same level of compassionate medical care as they have come to expect from Vista 's Saint Therese Medical Center.

Key elements of a Level II Trauma Center include 24-hour immediate coverage by independent general surgeons as well as coverage by independent physicians in the following specialties—orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, radiology and critical care. Critical trauma patients include people with major blood loss or shock as the result of car accidents, falls or other injuries who require prompt surgical intervention.

Victory Hospital 's designation as a Level II Trauma Center has come after completion of a lengthy state application and survey process. Saint Therese Medical Center will continue to provide emergency services, but is no longer designated a Level II Trauma Center.
