Charitable Assistance Policy

The hospitals of Vista Health have a long history of providing charitable assistance to area residents with limited financial resources.

Vista Health's enhanced Charitable Assistance Program sets up an application and evaluation process that will identify a person's eligibility to receive free or discounted services at Vista Health facilities, including Vista Medical Center West, Vista Medical Center East, the Vista Imaging Center (a Department of Vista Medical Center East), the Vista Surgery Center and the Vista MRI Institute. Based on family income levels and insurance coverage, patients who are unable to meet the anticipated costs of care will be offered the opportunity to apply for charitable assistance. Patients who fit the criteria for assistance may receive the services free of charge or at a discounted amount.

Since 1891 (with the establishment of Victory Memorial) and 1929 (when Saint Therese first opened its doors), Vista Health has always been committed to serving all community

residents, including the uninsured. The charitable assistance policy takes that commitment a step further in offering residents the ability to apply in advance to receive services at little or no cost. Patients who receive urgent or emergency care can apply for assistance after the treatment has occurred. Charitable assistance is available for all medically necessary treatments.

Vista Health's Charitable Assistance Policy does not affect treatment in any way. Treatment is always determined by clinical need and not by the patient's ability to pay for the treatment.
