Emergencies don’t wait. And you shouldn’t wait to seek care if an emergency strikes you or your family. Delaying care in an emergency can lead to worse outcomes and potentially serious complications later.

We are open and ready to safely care for you in an environment specifically designed to keep you safe.

Here are a few ways we have changed operations to protect the health of all patients:

• Everyone seeking emergency care is screened upon arrival to help ensure the appropriate site of care, isolating those who require it.
  
  
• We offer dedicated, separate areas in the ER with strict isolation protocols in place for COVID patients. Those needing general care are NOT placed in the same area as those suspected of having the virus.
  
  
• Staff and patients wear masks at all times.
  
  
• Clinical grade disinfection takes place continuously throughout the day in all patient areas. High touch point areas like elevators, waiting rooms and restrooms are routinely disinfected every two hours.
  
  
• Patients coming in by ambulance are evaluated prior to arrival via radio call, where the appropriate site of care is determined. If isolation is needed, those patients do not cross into general care areas.
  
  
• Until further notice, we’re maintaining a no visitor policy at Vista Health System
  

Additionally, here are a few things remaining the same in our ER:

• The 30-Minute Pledge means we will work diligently to have you initially seen by a medical professional within 30 minutes of your arrival.
  
• We have earned The Joint Commission’s Certificate of Distinction for Primary Stroke Centers. This means our services have the critical elements to achieve long-term success in improving outcomes for stroke patients.
• We are designated as an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics. This means we can provide comprehensive emergency services and meet pediatric emergency care requirements.
  
• As a Level II Trauma Center for the state of Illinois, we have met rigorous standards established by the American College of Surgeons.
  
  In addition, specialists on staff in Orthopedics, General Surgery, Gastroenterology, and Cardiology means we are here for you when you need us most.
