Members of the leadership team at Vista Health System traded in their hospital scrubs and business attire on Friday, Aug. 16, to wash cars and raise more than $700 for charity. Donations will be divided equally among the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association and PADS Lake County.
The car wash was held at Vista Medical Center East at 1324 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan. The sunny day proved ideal for washing almost 150 cars, trucks and vans between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. More than 20 nurse managers, department directors and other members of the health system’s leadership took turns doing two-hour shifts.
“I’m very proud of our leadership staff who volunteered their time and effort to raise money for a few of the charities that we actively support,” said Barbara Martin, president and chief executive officer of Vista Health System. “This was the first car wash that we’ve done at Vista, and we’re delighted at its success.”
The event was part of Vista’s ongoing Combined Appeal Campaign that is actively supported by management and employees to support a variety of local and national organizations. Other fundraising activities at Vista include gift basket raffles, jeans days, book sales, 50/50 raffles, employee pledges and more.
