In an emergency situation you can always go to any of Vista’s three Emergency Departments – Vista Medical Center East and Vista Medical Center West, both in Waukegan, and the Vista Freestanding Emergency Center in Lindenhurst . For non-emergencies, Access is a convenient option for a mental health assessment at no charge.
While patients are undergoing behavioral health treatment at Vista, our highest priority is their comfort. Our individualized treatment is coordinated with a therapist and physician to reduce stress and determine the appropriate length of stay and level of care for each patient.

As a provider of mental health services, we collaborate with other treatment partners in our community. We hold multidisciplinary staff meetings where referring physicians can provide information and suggestions to help our team know their patient better and decide on appropriate discharge plans.
Vista Health System offers the only children’s inpatient program in Lake County that serves children in acute mental health crises. Our certified teacher provides tutoring to each child, and we maintain close contact with the child’s school to ensure work is completed. Our staffing collaborates with the child’s school social work team and referring physician.
Please remember that Illinois law requires a signed release by parents or guardians to connect with both treatment providers and school personnel. Without that signature, we must maintain confidentiality.
Our team of professionals can also take the time to visit your programs. We provide free training for your teams on mental health topics, and we are happy to share information about our programs and our recovery model for treatment.
